I am happy with the traction I get on icy walks. The soles tend to pick up sand/grit that has been spread and provide good traction which is important for seniors looking to prevent a fall and possible broken bones. Because of the tendency of sand/grit to stick to the soles there is a downside when coming in doors- you will want to remove them as that sand/grit does not ready come off with just a quick wipe of your feet on the coconut brush doormat.
